My journey into occupational therapy was both unexpected and, given my childhood experiences, highly improbable. Initially, I aimed to become a Physical Therapist, motivated by the many who contributed to raising me—I wanted a career where I could give back. Since I enjoyed lifting weights and sports, I figured I should become a Physical Therapist. However, my own poor choices and behavior as a teenager made me ineligible to apply for Physical Therapy programs when the time came. Determined not to give up, I was fortunately accepted into 1 Occupational Therapy program out of the 30+ I had applied to.
Aspiring to specialize in hand rehabilitation, my path took an unexpected turn when I was assigned to a pediatric setting, contrary to my initial goals. Though skeptical at first, I thrived, uncovering a passion for empowering children, particularly those facing behavioral challenges.
I understand children and teens not just professionally but from a deeply personal perspective. At age 7, I was separated from my parents due to their poor conduct and choices. This led me to navigate the turbulent waters of youth with similar challenges. Thankfully, there were individuals in my life willing to make sacrifices to guide me toward becoming a better person. This experience has endowed me with unique empathy and insight into the struggles these young individuals face. Against statistical odds, I not only graduated high school but also played college football and earned my Master's in Occupational Therapy. It's my duty to pay forward the support I received.
In my role as an Occupational Therapist, I served my local community in Utah for four years, working with children and teens in school districts, and even coaching and mentoring young athletes and teens facing life's challenges. While rewarding, I sought a greater challenge and broader impact, leading me to Las Vegas. Here, I focused on children with Autism, integrating occupational therapy with behavioral strategies, learning directly from Behavior Analysts. Despite the significant impact on these children's lives, I identified a gap—the difficulty parents encountered in implementing these therapeutic practices at home, leading to difficulties later on in the parent and child's life. The parents frequent questions highlighted a need for guidance.
This insight has inspired my latest venture: Providing in-home pediatric occupational therapy. This provides the opportunity for you and I to work together and maximize your childs outcomes as well as provide insights in how to navigate any challenges you have with your child in your home environment.
I am committed to guiding children and their parents through a transformative process, ensuring every child has the opportunity to define and achieve their personal idea of success.
